A regrettable event occurred on Saturday afternoon during a birthday party in the community of El Olivo, in the El Limón sector, Santa María district, Herrera province, where a 16-year-old teenager lost his life after suffering an accident while participating in the activity. The young man, affectionately known as "Edgardito," fell from the bull he was riding. According to preliminary reports, he suffered a strong blow to the ribs, causing a serious wound. He was immediately assisted and transferred to a nearby hospital; however, upon arrival, doctors confirmed that he had no vital signs. The news caused deep consternation in the El Rincón de Santa María community, where the minor lived with his family. Neighbors, friends, and acquaintances expressed their sorrow at the young man's unexpected passing, remembering him as a cheerful and appreciated young man in the area. Likewise, residents from different parts of the province expressed their concern about this type of event and, especially, about the participation of minors in high-risk activities like bull riding. It is noted that tragedies like this leave deep pain in families and open the debate on the need to reinforce safety measures and regulations to protect the integrity of children and adolescents.
